Kelly McAvoy
Owner
I grew up outside of Buffalo, NY. (Go Bills!) I moved to Hilton Head Island when I was 21. I had my cosmetology license for 4 years at this point, but I was ready for a new adventure.
I started at Freda Salon in 2002 when I moved and I have been here ever since. I recently bought the business from Larry Freda at the beginning of 2021.
I love my job. Hair is so much fun! I love making people feel great about the way they look. I have found the most important part of my relationship with my clients is listening to their wants and needs of their hair expectations.
I met my husband, Ryan, in 2010 and we married in 2011. We have two amazing boys, Lincoln & Harrison. They sure keep me busy when I am not at the salon.
I also enjoy cooking, baking, sewing and spending as much time with my whole family as I can.

I'm a transplant from New York, but I've called the Palmetto State home since 2008. The best feeling in the world is helping someone feel good about themselves, and that's why I chose my career as a hairstylist. In 2010 I graduated from the Technical College of the Low-country (TCL) with a Cosmetology license and have since worked with master colorists and stylists across the Island.
My favorite part about working with clients is building a friendship and sharing the journey to a transformation. Who doesn't love a "before and after" picture?
While I am proud of my work behind the chair, my biggest accomplishment in my life has been raising my two kids,
Ariana and Kane, who have made me complete.
Outside of the salon, you can find me carting these kiddos around on my e-bike through the neighborhood or on the water with my Fiancé Ryan, a Marina Manager and boat enthusiast..
